Every time I recommend Fish Oil - I hear people say "ewww, gross!". But, yet, they'll go eat a Candy Bar from the local 7-11.
Sound familiar? I'd rather eat Salmon fresh, uncooked, out of a River than have people repeat to me what is inside of those Chocolate Bars and the results it leaves in your bodies.
EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids) are unbelievably healthy for your mind and body. A friend of mine is a Veteran of the Air Force and has been suffering from major depression and anxiety... he's been given prescriptions for just about every single medication there is for both Depression and Anxiety.
The funny thing is... NONE of them seem to work. So the doctor said "I want you to try this..." and wrote him a prescription for Fish Oil. Yes, Fish Oil.
Can you guess what I'm about to tell you? Yes, they actually helped! Out of all of the junk they've written him prescriptions on - the only thing that seemed to work was FISH OIL!
That's pretty amazing. And healthy.
But what else does Fish Oil do?
Well, for starters - a lot of people believe that Fish Oil helps speed up your metabolism. I have to believe it does too as I was struggling to lose a few extra pounds before I started taking EFA's, and then the weight started coming off.
EFA's are very healthy for your Heart.
Also, good fats raise your HDL or "good cholesterol". One of the jobs of this High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) or "good cholesterol" is to grab your bad cholesterol, LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), and escort it to the liver where it is broken down and excreted. In other words, these good fats attack some of the damage already done by the bad fats. This is very important in an age when so many Americans are struggling to get their cholesterol down, and fight heart disease and obesity.
Interesting, huh? Yet most Americans hardly know about EFA's 20 years later!
There's great information being delivered to us via the internet with new information about EFA's/Omega Fatty Acids.
Fish is healthy for you... Salmon is a great source of Omega Fatty Acids.
There's also plenty of other good tasting sources of Omega Fatty Acids, all with different properties.
Almonds, Peanuts, Cashews, etc.
How about those of you who love Avocados? They're extremely healthy as well.
There's so many great tasting foods on this planet that are filled with extremely healthy nutrients. Why risk your health eating foods that do otherwise?
